Home of the Giants takes place in a small town that is obsessed with their high school basketball team. The star of the team, played superbly by Ryan Merriman (Final Destination 3), is going down the right path in life until he gets mixed up with a local crook. Getting an offer to throw the big championship game for a large sum of money, Ryan's character is leaning towards taking the money until his best friend (Haley Joel Osment, The Sixth Sense) gets caught in the middle, trying to keep him on the straight & narrow. They both get into deeper trouble than intended. Home of the Giants offers a good balance of action and basketball plus the chance to see I-see-dead-people Osment's evolution into his first major young adult role. |
