Decision Support Engineer

Summary

DVDPlay is seeking a passionate, team-oriented, and self-motivated engineer to analyze access and usage patterns of DVDPlay's kiosks and online services utilizing data mining techniques, in-depth knowledge of logs processing, databases and OLAP technologies to enhance DVDDPlay's understanding of key markets and customers. You will work with huge data sets, write scripts to automate data extraction, test business and product hypotheses, and build monitoring/reporting dashboards utilizing state of the art technologies including AJAX. This position will also be responsible for tool building, both in terms of the backend (e.g., database) as well as front-end (e.g., web tools).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Analyze access and usage patterns of DVDPlay's kiosks and online services utilizing data mining techniques
Enhance DVDDPlay's understanding of key markets and customers by utilizing logs processing, databases and OLAP technologies
Work with huge data sets to write scripts to automate data extraction, test business and product hypotheses
Build monitoring/reporting dashboards utilizing state of the art technologies including AJAX
Tool building for backend (e.g., database) as well as front-end (e.g., web tools)
Other duties may be assigned.

Education and/or Experience

B.S. degree in technical discipline. MS preferred
Experience in scripting in a major scripting language such as perl or PHP 5. Experience with DHTML, JavaScript, AJAX, PHP5, and/or other web technologies desired (for building automated reports/dashboards).
Database query experience (e.g. SQL), 5+ years hands-on experience with MySQL/PostgreSQL in the following areas:

Replication
Load balancing
Query optimization
Schema design disaster recovery

Experience with statistical data analysis and statistical tools strongly preferred.
Experience programming software in C/C++ or Java.
