Summary
The Senior Quality Assurance Engineer job includes all activities related to ensuring suitability of software/hardware for delivery to customers. As a member of the quality assurance team, this candidate will design and implement test systems to ensure Web and Server based application product quality and conformance to functional and design specifications. Specific responsibilities include test design, planning, and execution with an emphasis on the automation of test cases.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Work closely with both software and hardware development groups to report, track, and resolve failures in a timely manner, as well as contributing to project plan development.
- Installation and verification of software/hardware components and the development of test tools, the development and execution of load and performance based tests.
- Develop and execute test plans and configure test beds.
- Design & write test cases based on MRD’s and documented test plans.
- Execution of test cases, reporting and tracking defects, and ensuring acceptable resolution.
- Support the development team in debugging known issues.
- Development of automated regression tests.
- Development of appropriate Test Tools.
- Setup and maintenance of physical/hardware test environment.
- Certify software for formal as well as patch update releases
- Ensure sufficient negative test coverage
- Project scheduling, planning, and creation of test strategies

Qualifications

- Must possess strong skills in Java programming, and SQL.
- Excellent experience in test automation, Java based client/server, and web applications.
- Hands-on experience with the automation tool called "Selenium". Strong skills in incorporating Junit tests into the Selenium framework. Must be able to write code to create automation tests that will run within the Selenium test framework.
- Excellent skills in firmware testing is a plus
- Good understanding of test methodology and SQA best practices
- Experience with sizing, scheduling, designing, writing and executing test plans/cases for firmware, functional and system level testing.

- Ability to come up to speed quickly and to understand advanced concepts and methodologies as well as contribute to improving and extending the impact and effectiveness of those concepts is an essential requirement.
- Experience with test tools and test automation, including white box, black box, load, and performance testing.

- Must have hands on experience in configuring lab equipment, creating test plans/cases and executing such cases to validate product compliance to requirements and technical specifications.
- Work in an Rapid Development (Agile) environment.
- Good analytical, logical and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Prioritizing, completing, and delivering project assignments on time.
- Hands on experience testing Web, Windows XP and Linux based applications.
- Working knowledge of Java, SQL, Scripting. Knowledge of the Jira defect tracking system a plus.
- Ability to lead by example.
Education and/or Experience
- BSEE/CS or Equivalent Experience
- 7+ years Quality systems and process knowledge in Software Development/Software Quality Assurance
