Live Free Or Die Hard Movie Pick

Untitled Document

In this post-9/11 technology-driven world, Live Free Or Die Hard proves that we still need old-school analog heroes like John McClane to save the day. It has been twelve long years since we last saw Bruce Willis as the death-defying New York City detective John McClane. I'll admit that when I first heard that Bruce Willis had signed on to do yet another Die Hard movie, I became worried, especially since he has proved to be a marketable success in other genres. Luckily, Bruce and company proved me wrong. In the fourth installment in the popular Die Hard series Bruce Willis proves that he is back and better than ever as the snarky, sly and impossibly lucky McClane. John McClane may be older and balder, but he can still take a punch or kick with the best of them. Initially assigned to simply protect and transport a hacker (Justin Long, Dodgeball) to Washington D.C. , McClane quickly gets caught in the crossfire of a domestic techno-terrorist plot. Timothy Olyphant from TV's Deadwood brings a slick, seedy charm to his role as Thomas Gabriel, a disgraced and disillusioned former FBI computer security director who is now bent on bringing down the entire infrastructure of the United States and sending the whole country into chaos. Slacker geek icon, writer, director and producer Kevin Smith (currently responsible for TV's Reaper) is a great addition to the cast as 'The Warlock', a hacker genius who lives in his mother's basement. Smith is hilarious as the 'Internet Jedi' who would rather sit at home in his 'command center' and watch the destruction of the Western world from the safety of his recliner but reluctantly helps McClane save the day. Filled with plenty of pop-culture banter, elaborate action sequences and hilarious one-liners, Live Free Or Die Hard has put the fun back into the tired genre of action movies.
